The S.T.F is a U.S. Government agency, currently led by Colonel Richard Steele. They act as support to the United States' super-powered individuals, undertake government research, oversee U.S. responsibilities involving Outliers, and respond to small-scale super powered threats.
PARAPHERNALIA
•Inhibitor Rings: A device used to ensure the forced compliance of Outliers. The function of the device is made to dampen their powers, preventing an Outlier from accessing their respective Variant. These rings come way in the form of a collar, bracelet like cuffs, and earrings. The Rings create a field that acts to keep the power restrained within the wearer, while also siphoning their energy when attempting to access their powers.
•Quiet Room: A special chamber or room that, like the inhibitor rings, is made to keep Outliers within its walls weakened and depowered.
•Equalizers: A general term used for the weaponry used by S.T.F Agents. These armaments are made to level the playing field between them and the Outliers they're forced to face. Far stronger than standard firearms and armaments, the Equalizers make use of Primordion as a power source, granting the weapons destructive power that is more than capable of dealing damage to those blessed with super physique, defensive and regenerative abilities. To date, the S.T.F have developed the Equalizers up to the Sixth Generation, an EV1 outperforming an El in terms of power, accuracy, firing speed and stability. (E-Bombs, E-Mines, etc also exist and fall under this umbrella)
•Stabilist Uniform: Also called the Stabilist's Armor or Stabilizers, it is the default suit of those enlisted in the S.T.F. The armor is composed of a special kevlar mesh weave along with technology to shield the agents wearing them from much blunt force trauma and energy based attacks up to a degree of course. Different variants (more specifically those belonging to veterans and higher ups) provide their wearer with boosted performance capabilities.
They also have access to several other pieces of technology not generally found in your typical armed forces, including cloaking tech.
HISTORY
When those with strange powers began appearing a year after Panacea went super nova, the world found itself in panic, uncertain as to what was happening or why at the time. Local law enforcement proved insufficient in handling these super powered threats, and even the national guard proved insufficient. The president called the heads of their various militaries and agencies; Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, CIA, FBI, NSA, Home Land Security and from this collaboration, the S.T.F was born. With a unique training regimen drafted along with government funding and access to technology, they would take up the role of bringing back stability where chaos had temporarily ruled. Operating outside the law, their actions are always fierce, and effective. Afforded with the authority to act with the utmost impunity they have been viewed as both villains and heroes alike due to their moral ambiguity.
