HISTORY
The City of Hexington was originally founded 1699 by a group of European Colonist. Colonizing the land was met with much resistance by not only the natives who lived nearby but also by nature and otherworldly forces as well. The colonist living there would have to deal with buildings catching on fire by the actions of the Natives or by forces unknown. The people weathered these trials and the village slowly developed into a town and by this point more unexplainable events would play out from earthquakes that would collapse buildings to reports of moths catching their wings on fire and carrying said fire to their food storage buildings. People had always thought the land was cursed, however by 1731 a family had risen up and taken command of the town as a whole.
The Howardson family were exceptional hunters and grew to prominence for being able to supply food for Hexington. The disasters that plagued the colonist seemed to always avoid the Howardson family and because they never had to focus on rebuilding the family was able to prosper and grow. Decades would pass and eventually the supernatural events plaguing Hexington eventually faded away, enough for the next generation to just disregard most of it as mere stories. The Howardson family didn't take political leadership often throughout history but they continued to flourish.
By the time the mid 1800's rolled around Hexington had become a proper city, although it was never a place for people born outside of the city wanted to linger in long. There was an ominous haze that linger over and flowed through the city, a strange dread that clung to the air like vines on a tombstone. Those born and raised in Hexington never notice it, only when they leave the city do they feel like a weight was lifted from their shoulders, the world seeming more vibrant and the sun shinning brighter than ever before. However, no matter how long or how far a native of Hexington travels away from the city they always feel a draw to the city, as if something is pulling them back. It is not unnatural for the elderly to request burial in Hexington, should they be living outside of the City.
